My Vodacom app LS update, should you update/ download?

Vodacom is over the mountain again; show casing their app. The update makes a few old things to behave well and it is a reasonable update.

Should you download the app? The answer is not a simple yes or a no; in fact its a mixed yes and a no. This is why.
N.B. I tested this app on Vodacom SmarkKika (Android Kitkat 4.4) and Mobicel Plum (Android Marshmallow 6.0).

Good things:
To get started with the app is fairly simple. After installing the app, you open it and give it your mobile number; a code will be sent to you which you'll have to enter in the provided field to verify if its really you. And that's it.
Maybe its worth pointing out that the app can be installed on one phone while your sim is on another one.

If your main concern is data, well don't be. Vodacom gives you free data to download the app( if it does!), the app is just around 28MB and the carrier is generous enough to give you 100MB which should be more than enough to get you started. And also an extra 100MB while a registered user.

The app gives you balances of your SIM in a nice visual fashion. The default option is Data balance, tapping on voice button shows you minutes left while the SMS button shows you what you expect to see, SMS balance. The big circle is a button as well, you tap on it and it gets you all the balances. The buy button is a tap way if you need to buy something.

Other features are hidden in the navigation drawer on the left. You'll find pretty much everything that you expect to find while using *111#. But don't toss away your codes just yet and I'll tell you why in a second.

Bad things:
The app takes much time booting up and choosing different options can cost you extra minutes. The app is still as buggy is it initially was; it feels like a beta even after a couple of updates. I have to be honest and say some bugs aren't noticeable until you dig for them.

While purchasing bundles; navigating between Others and Myself, the app gets freaked out and you'll have to start over again or the app might crash; Our millage might differ. It's a problem that be fixed by an update so nothing to discourage you from using the app though.

Closing remarks:
If you have a device with decent specs you can give this app a try, otherwise don't. The app is obviously the slice of the future but the future is not ready yet. *100# and other codes should be at the back of your head, for the time being. The future is really exciting maybe it'll take us a few months to experience that. Download the app here.

That's it from us LearningIs4fun tech tips, have a wonderful day.
